Helen Hedges

Helen Hedges is currently a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Education, University of Auckland, New Zealand. Her teaching and research interests focus on research ethics, particularly in relation to young children’s involvement, and the field of curriculum and pedagogy. Currently, in her PhD study, she is investigating children’s interests and the professional knowledge that teachers need to build a curriculum based on these, using communities of inquiry as a theoretical framework. She has also been working in the past few years with the Auckland Kindergarten Association to establish and support development of a research culture, including practitioner research.
