A pocket full of ideas that build on the fascinations of children – practical and portable, these cards are designed to share the possibilities of playing outside in Nature. Use to stimulate curiosity and engage children through rich learning opportunities inside, outside and beyond.

We see whittling as an activity that allows children freedom, flexibility and a chance for a lot of personal space to connect with their sense of self and their natural environment. Whittling is an activity used on a regular basis in our Nature Kindergartens and during our work with teachers. When we introduce whittling to a group, we find that the engagement and wellbeing levels of the individuals generally increases and that the sensitivity to both the environment and peers increases.

42 cards - image on one side, text on the other.

Example ideas:
Make a home for fairies and elves
Whittle a marshmallow stick
Make a woven ball
Make a sun dial
Make a picture frame

My Muslim Mate

Young Charlie is a true-blue young Aussie, and so is his friend Khaled. They spend time together on their scooters, as well as chatting about the things that they share, and the things that make them different. My Muslim Mate, written by exciting new author Amal Abou-Eid, is the story of how, through talking and learning about each other’s cultures, friendships can flourish and lives can work together harmoniously. The story explains aspects of Islam that are often misunderstood, and is a great resource for non-Muslim families who wish to learn more, as well as Muslim students in classrooms across Australia who can access the book to help express themselves.

How To Recycle Your Feelings
By Amy Molloy

Sometimes, we all end up with too many emotions, Or emotions we don’t have a use for anymore… But that doesn’t mean you have to throw them away. Because no emotion is ever really a waste. The first title in the series, How to Recycle Your Feelings is a children’s book with grown-ups in mind too. The fictional story – which shows that 'no emotion is ever really a waste' – draws on therapeutic techniques such as reframing, reflection and detachment packaged in a way that is understandable (and enjoyable!) to readers of all ages. Perfect for parents, grandparents, carers and educators alike, it shows the power of imagination and positive intention to cope with the overflow emotions that can clutter our emotional worlds! The series is written in line with NSW primary school curriculum for personal development and the national Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (aged 0-5): Belonging, Being and Becoming which is 'correlated with resilience, providing children with the capacity to cope with day-to day stress and challenges.'

Emotions Card Sets from The I Am, Movement
Emotions with Aboriginal designs by Aboriginal artists

“The I Am, Movement” arose from the recent diagnosis of my two-year-old son, Slade, with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As we attended therapy appointments and doctors’ visits, we were given piles of information and resources but found there to be a lack of culturally appropriate support, resources and connection for Aboriginal families. To address this lack of resources, we offer beautiful Aboriginal-designed flash cards appropriate for use at home, in education settings and in child therapy teams. These flashcards are a tool of healing and connecting to culture on our journey. One set of flashcards teaches numbers 1 – 10 and the other set teaches the alphabet alongside images of native animals. In addition to offering culturally-safe learning resources, “The I Am, Movement” aims de-stigmatise conditions by instead focusing on what you want to be; “I am, unique”, “I am, strong”, “I am, deadly”.
