This production shows a three and a half year old girl’s changing behaviour in different situations.
The sequences concentrate on her behaviour with an adult and include:
Playing with mum at home
Separation from mum
At playgroup with mum and staff
A series of interactions with an unfamiliar adult.
Together the sequences show clearly how children can behave quite differently in different situations and illustrates the importance of not relying on single observations.
They can also be used to show:
How to assess the developmental level of a child
The effect of change and separation
Recognition of signs of distress in a child
The powerful nature of feelings in young children
The accompanying notes (12 pages) include a narrative observation for each sequence together with an evaluation and conclusion. They give backgroound information and an overall conclusion about the child.
