Early Childhood Australia Biennial Conference
3-6 October 2008, National Convention Centre, Canberra

Early Childhood Australia’s Biennial Conference is an eagerly awaited event for people who work with young children, and for all those who are interested in young children's wellbeing. This is one of Australia’s most significant professional occasions for people who do this important work.

Keynote presentations and sessions will explore approaches to working with young children, focusing on:

• Social and emotional wellbeing
• Environment and sustainability
• Advocacy and leadership
• Theory into practice

Rob Gell (Aus), an active environmental advocate for sustainable development, has now been confirmed as a keynote speaker.

Karen Martin (Aus) is a Noonuccal woman from Minjerripah (North Stradbroke Island - south east Queensland) who also has Bidjara ancestry (Canarvon Gorge, Central Queensland). She has taught in Aboriginal Community education services and has lectured in Indigenous Australian Studies.

Rob joins other influential keynote speakers:

Joan Brink (US) – a dynamic practicing teacher and expert on the High/Scope curriclum, committed to the power of intentional teaching alongside shared control with children.

Martha Farrell Erickson (US) – an inspiring leader and expert in uniting research with real-life practice in attachment and children’s wellbeing.

Ferre Laevers and Julia Moons (Belgium) – an expert team dedicated to improving children’s learning experiences.

Chris Sidoti (Aus) – a former Human Rights Commissioner for Australia with a passionate commitment to children’s rights.
