Tamar Jacobson, PhD, was born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and lived in Israel, where she became a preschool teacher. Dr. Jacobson immigrated to the United States and received her BA, masters, and doctorate in early childhood education at the University at Buffalo. For 11 years, she worked as program coordinator and director of the University at Buffalo Child Care Center. Currently, she is chair of the Department of Teacher Education and coordinator of early childhood education at Rider University. Dr. Jacobson has also served as an early childhood consultant and counselor for parents of young children. She served for four years as president on the Western New York AEYC board. She is vice president for membership for the New Jersey Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators (NJAECTE) and is a fellow in the Child Trauma Academy. Dr. Jacobson makes presentations at national, state and regional conferences, including keynote addresses, panel presentations, and conference workshops. Her topics have included infants and toddlers, discipline, developmentally appropriate practice, anti-bias curriculum, parent involvement, CDA training, and preparation for NAEYC accreditation.
