Cynthia Simpson, Ph.D., has more than 15 years of experience in the public and private sector as a preschool teacher, special education teacher, elementary teacher, educational diagnostician, and administrator. She maintains an active role in the childcare industry as an educational consultant in the areas of assessment and inclusive practices. Cynthia has many publications to her credit and is a featured speaker at the international, national, and state level. She is currently an assistant professor in the College of Education at Sam Houston State University where she teaches courses in Early Childhood and Special Education. Cynthia was recently awarded the 2008 Susan Phillips Gorin Award, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a professional member of the Council for Exceptional Children by its student membership.
