Alma Fleet is passionate about educational change. She has taught young children, primary grade students and adults in California, Scotland and Australia. Formerley Head of the Institute of Early Childhood, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, she teachers its undergraduate and postgraduate students. Alma has received an award from Macquarie University for outstanding contributions to Community Outreach work relationg to professional development. She is involved in a nationally recognised Bachelor of Teaching program for Aboriginal and Tores Strait Islander student teachers. She is influenced by ideas from Reggio Emilia, her own family and by colleagues.
